In 2018, Sweden had finally approved the sale of substitutes to combat smoking by allowing nicotine alternatives.
Sweden is considered one of the least nicotine consuming countries with only 5% of smokers compared to an average of 30% in countries like France or Greece and 16% for Denmark and the UK.
Sweden is known as the country with the lowest lung cancer rate on the continent.
It is one of the only European countries to have approved the use of Snus (a packet of tobacco powder that is placed under the upper lip for a period of time) along with its counterparts in Denmark and Norway.
World Vapers Alliance director Michael Landl said 150,000 vapers could potentially switch back to cigarettes if the flavoured eliquid ban comes into effect.
This is a big step backwards that is being prepared!
Michael Landl's press release questions why this backtracking.
It warns the Swedes that the regulation will become stricter on nicotine packets and electronic cigarettes from 1 August 2022.
Future negotiations are scheduled for 1 January 2023 and 1 January 2024.
But what will happen to vapers by these negotiations?
